Analysing Music Videos.

The music video I chose is MIKA's "Lollipop".

Lollipop is a pop song, being very upbeat and fast in tempo like most of Mika's songs, the video is completely animated but has extremely vibrant colours which means the target audience would be those whom listen to pop music quite often and so would be up to ages of 50 or older but can also be for children as children have a strong attraction for vibrant colours and upbeat music.

The song also has a meaning and motive behind it "Love's gonna get you down" which would be directed toward children rather than adults as children need teaching through life whereas adults have already been through it, the message of the song is that love can hurt and is a warning for children.

The video has no Muse-en-scene as it is completely animated but there are still animated costumes which are usually dresses of primary colours such as red and blue which would relate children - mainly girls - to the video as they would wear the same type of clothing, there are also many animals in the video such as penguins and fish which children love.

In the video there are a few main characters which appear throughout such as a little girl, a bunch of black silhouettes of dogs and the girl's "Mama". The girl being followed throughout the adventure would be exciting for the children watching as they can relate to her, being small too. The mother is depicted as a very powerful, very tall character which would also be relatable for children as from the children's point of view, their mother is a huge giant whom is very powerful and strong, this further helps the argument for the target audience mainly being children.

The language used is very safe for children as no harmful or rude words are used and the vocabulary is quite simple and repeated numerous times:

"I said, 

Sucking too hard on your lollipop, 
Or love's gonna get you down,
I said, 
Sucking too hard on your lollipop, 
Or love's gonna get you down."

these are the main lyrics for the song and are used in the chorus, they're really simple and easy for a child to understand.
